I think the point is that even if Mediocre Bass Strings, Inc. never made a mistake copying a piano string, premium piano strings are worth the price because of their improved sound. And of course, the premium string can also be enhanced by rescaling the piano - which will make more difference on a lesser piano than on a high-quality piano (assuming of course that a previous technician hadn't changed the original scale - in that case rescaling would also fix that error). Making fewer mistakes will just be a side benefit from using the premium string maker (although this may be worth the fee difference all on its own!)
