They are digital samples of acoustic concert grands.  Pretty close, good to
use in many situations as you mentioned, but not he same. I recommend them
for some churches, bars, places where they won't/can't maintain a real
piano.

You get no argument from me... I first ran into this experience a few years
ago at
Molde Jazz Festival,,,, really loud high intensity music... masked any
differences
between an acoustic and an electronic imitation in the mix. And they are
getting
better and better sound out of those each year...

If I have said it once, I have said it a bunch of times... those things can
eventually undermine the acoustic market so severly as to deliver it a fatal
blow...
that possible eventuality tho is probably sometime of in the future....
Still...
anybody know how to find out the total sales of clavinovas and such vs
pianos these
past say 5 years ??  I know I can find that information out relating to
Norway...
