I use a Popsicle stick cut to the correct width. Dip it about an eighth inch or a little more deep and blot on a surface to get rid of the runoff, then apply with a right and left motion in the mortise. I do them one at a time using the bushmaster. If I had brass cauls then maybe I'd do several at a time. Heating them sounds like a good idea. I'm still using the plastic. Boring work!!!!
