  Richard, you may find this hard to believe, but I don't use a =
micrometer at all. I carry a stainless steel dial caliper which reads in =
thousands. It's quicker, and I use it for more than just wire, as it can =
be used as a depth gauge, and an inside diameter gauge too. Mine cost me =
$27 US. One of the best tools I regularly use.
