Nails work just fine but you should solder it in place.

How do you repair a broken damper rod hook? I had two of them silver
soldered by someone else. One has lasted for many years. But the most
recent one only held for about 4 weeks. One my mentors from way back told
of using a smooth nail of the correct diameter bent at a 90 degree angle
fitted into the rod. Schaff has replacement pins which are straight. I
assume they have to be bent after installation. They're very inexpensive,
but a minimum order would have to be placed. Has anyone else tried the
nail approach? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any ideas!
