I've heard of guitars and violins made of carbonfiber. Should be possible for soundboards too I guess. It's probably more likely to happen by 2041 instead of 2014, because of conservative consumers and even more conservative people designing or servicing the piano's. (flamesuite on) I believe that if a way is found to produce piano's cheaper on a large scale by using alternative materials, this will happen in the end.
