This might not be "proper", but you might try a drop or two of super glue or 
lacquer on the offending string lengths, whether they be duplex or even 
speaking length. I never tried it on the main speaking length of the string 
before but it works when you're trying to quiet down duplex noise.

Might be worth exploring a bit.  Beats trying to figure out how to install 
just one more damper!
