I have 2 contract one for primary and one for secondary schools (4 to 11
Kindergarten and what ever your 12 to 16 year range is called )

They are 2 or 4 years and for 2 tunings a year I tell the school that I
should be paid out of the maintenance budget not the music budget all
seem to be happy with that and when you are due the music department are
happy to see you as it is not coming out of their pocket. Payment is 28
days and most schools do it by BACS in to my account. I give them a
£3.00 discount on each piano from my normal tuning fee no matter how
many pianos they have, this will stay for the length of the contract.

For the primary the contract covers call out for sticking notes and
labour for any broken parts. I find it works well with primary school
very seldom get called out.

For secondary school as above except for the labour on fixing broken
parts, and they can only have a 2 year contract maximum, you do tend to
get called out more to secondary schools some schools I do drop if
they mess me about or if the vandalism is too much.

I have 44 primary schools on this system and 5 secondary school. I
also have some schools call me when they can afford me but they get no
discounts at all.

As to enforcing it I have had no problems I tend to FAX my invoice to
the school bursar seems to work better than giving it to the head of
music who keeps it on their desk for a week or two.

Hope this is of some help

Barrie,
