Age of Kawai piano

I have a customer that is interested in selling their 42" Kawai console
piano.  The Model is 801M with a serial number of K803595.  The Atlas shows
its year of manufacture to be circa 1975.  The Ancott Directory makes no
mention of this model number being built since 1986. (this is as far as my
Ancott books go back).

The problem is that they purchased the piano 10 years ago - from a dealer -
supposedly new. When they purchased it, it still had the protective plastic
on the brass parts.

I cannot appraise the piano properly without proof of age and the
conventional sources are of no help.  Anyone out there with knowledge of
this model and its' age ?
