health insurance

Terry! You've just hit another nerve, I can't keep up!

First, you gotta quit electing liberal socialists to office.

Let's analyze insurance. Barns burn down, because some farmers are too dumb
to realize that damp hay will ferment, generate heat and ignite. Now the
barn burns down.

So, a few farmers say "Let's pool some money and if a barn burns down,
we'll just rebuild it with the pooled money"

So a few Andre Manures think "Let's form a corporation and make a killing by
charging for fire insurance and trying to make a profit by charging more for
the premium than it will cost to rebuild a few dumb farmers barns.

The profit then will build the finest building in town and now you have a
large insurance company that has enough political clout to do some serious
damage to the community.

Enter the large contractors who will inflate the cost to rebuild the barn
(instead of farmers donating their labor to rebuild) and these fees to be
paid by the insurance companies allowing them to raise their premiums for
the additional cost.

Ponzi scheme personified!!!!!

Auto insurance, health insurance, liability insurance, ETC.
All the same!

Now, health insurance is a very emotional issue. There are those that think
we need health insurance for those poor folk who need a 100000 operation.
Well, if there were no health insurance, there would be no 100000 operation.
The doctor would charge 5000. It is 100000 only because there is insurance.

When there is a third party payer, none of the three parties have any
incentive to keep the cost down. The doctor wants to raise the price since
he has more hassle, the patient wants more service since it is paid by
someone else, and the insurance co is happy to pay the bill since their
outgo justifies an increase in premiums.

I agree that you should put 600 in a savings account every month, hope you
won't get sick (don't have a msa that will suck off most of the money for
the administration costs) and practice prevention and common sense. If you
have a problem tell the doctor that you'll agree not to sue him and drive a
hard bargain, don't take any of those expensive drugs, cut out the sugar,
alcohol etc and you'll be healthier and richer and you'll be a conservative,
not a dependent liberal.

If you haven't already noticed, I'm a medical radical. I would like to do
certain home procedures, that require intravenous apparatus. I can't
legally get this stuff, but if I was a Junky, in San Fransisco, I could get
free needles to
carry on a bad habit, but to try to do something I believe would improve my
health, It's just illegal. Do I have respect for the medical fraternity?
No way!!!

Terry, you might rush to get to age 65 to get Medicare or join the
military. I have both such as it is. I do make my own decisions about
medical care even if it costs me money. I have made decisions already about
many things. For instance, I don't want bypass surgery, chemotherapy, or
radiation under any circumstances.

One final thought: The medical fraternity/drug companies say high
cholesterol causes heart disease. Guess what?
Low cholesterol causes Alzheimer's. Take your pick!
Your brain is 2/3 cholesterol by weight. A reading of less than 200 of
cholesterol for an extended period will cause you brain to short out. The
cholesterol serves as an insulator between the nerve fibers.

I guess I'm way off topic, Sorry!!
