hammer shanks

Just got a note in from good friend and fellow tech in Sweden that Bluthner is
one of those factories that sorts shanks in this fashion. Both upright and grand
I gather. Watched em do it.

One thing that struck my mind... the weight of a shank is related to it mass...
and well... wouldnt its mass also have something to do with the pitch it would
sound at when pinged ? (pinged...theres a good word for you..grin)
