Greetings, 
  Hmm, if the blocks are to be replaced, I just cut them in half,(lengthwise) 
with a pair of large endcutting wire cutters,  they usually crack right 
through the hole and fall off. This is less stressful on the wire/key than 
unscrewing them. 
   I will also mention that I usually recover the backchecks, I don't 
remember the last time I had to replace.
