Am getting ready to install a new set of hammers on this puppy. And
have gotten into the habit of taking 15 or so samples and checking
out the results ala Stanwood. This is a roughly 7 foot Seiler
Grand. There are whippen assist springs in the bass, but no where
else, which accounts for the abrut shift in weights starting at key
23 which is the lowest tenor. Otherwise lots of friction, slow
hammer centers are at least partially to blame. Some very er....
interesting FW's which mirror other problems. This ones going to be
fun me thinks.

I will probably be installing a SW curve starting at a weight of
about 12 grams in the bass and remove the whippen assist springs
since there are only 22 of them on the piano.

I also want to in general lighten up as this is in a studio and a
big hall sound isnt really appropriate. Although I suppose I need to
be carefull cuz the room is has very damped acoustics what with
carpets and such all over the place.

Comments and advice are extremely welcome. I will be doing 6 sets
this fall so its a great chance to get lots of experience in this
approach to hammer installation and re-weighting of the keys.
