Hi List,

I'm enjoying the priviledge of attending a seminar at S & S in NYC this =
week. It's been something I've wanted to do for years. Touring the =
factory and learning about the Steinway piano and their specific =
techniques of service are something I would encourage every technician =
to do. Of course, spirits hae been somewhat dampened by the recent =
events that took place in the city last week. Today however I got to be =
a part of Steinway history that the current employees told us they had =
never experienced. Bruce Stevens, president of the company, assembled =
the entire work force in the factory yard to address workers regarding =
the recent terrorist attack. His remarks were very eloquent and stirred =
the patriotism is the entire work force (from what I could see). It was =
very inspiring to look around at the myriad racial, ethnic, and =
religious diversity that makes up the Steinway family. In addition, they =
rolled a model "D" out on to the loading dock with an American flag =
taped to the rim and a full size flag hanging over it. Many employees =
were holding flags up (I saw one "wanted dead or alive" Bin Laden =
poster). A member of management ( I think it was Gary Green) played "God =
Bless America" while the entire work force sang along. You can imagine =
the emotion I felt.

Thank God for music, the piano, and Steinway and Sons.

God Bless America
Phil Romano
