Remove veneer with heat and moisture and make new core from gum or
chestnut (maybe fix up the old one). The glue used for Rosewood usually
is very good (may be part, or all fish glue), but happily the thicker
veneer is stronger.

Mitered edges can be done with a table saw and tall fence if dedicated
panel making machinery's not available. Buying sheets wide as old ones
is very expensive.
