David sounds like you have a case of hide glue seperati....this is when hide 
glue loses hold on some portion of the piano and forms a very thin wing of 
non attached glue...this produces a "papery rattle" or a knocking if there is 
a glue globule attached to the outside portion of the loose wing.....
places to look are around the rim underneath where the board is glued and 
underneath the bass bridge.........
