Bridge notching

Inre string termination on the wood: 
>> How long before this beast starts "zinging?"  

I would think that the sustain and clarity would suffer, rather than 
extraneous noise.  Bridge work is one of those things that half-way 
"rebuilders" often ignore when restringing, but a clean notch  often creates 
a much rounder note with longer sustain,( in my experience).
