Kudos to RogerJ for using steam; all roads lead to Rome. My method has
worked for me hundreds of times, and all I have, and I really mean ALL I
have, is my own personal, practical, empirical experience.
It's been a really hard lesson, but before I believe any method or
protocol to do with a piano, I have to try it first, and see how it fits
with my style. Many tips and advices and admonitions I've received from
other technicians have not worked for me----I've had to figure out my own
way, based on my own skillset and style, and often based at least partly
on something I've heard about from ANOTHER technician about how THEY do
something which may be diametrically opposed to the first bit of advice.

Be well.......

David A.
