Terry,
Thanks. This looks like something I was hoping to accomplish.
I owe you one.
Thanks again,

It really is slick. I've been doing it for years now. It is separate =
from any ISP. I think I pay about $9/month - maybe a little less because =
I paid for a whole year at once. What is really horrible (on my part) is =
that I don't even know who I use - I just click and thar she goes! I'm =
sure I could find out somehow. I have tested it by restoring files - =
always works fine. I have used perhaps three different backup services =
over the years. Just do a search on the internet for "Internet backup =
service" or "online computer backup" or some such. There are dozens of =
the serices now. They have different plans - just like cellular phone =
plans - to choose from. You may choose a different plan than, oh, say, =
General Motors. Just compare and contrast and you will find a service =
that meets your needs. I only back up my critical files - I don't back =
up my whole hard drive. If everything blows up, I can always get a new =
copy of the program on CD - its all my data files that are critical to =
me. I think my plan give me up to 500 megs of storage.
Back centuries ago I used to back up to little floppies. Then I went =
to tapes - and even stored them off site - what a pain. The internet =
service is so easy and fast. Just click "GO" late at night and go to =
bed.

Terry,
Tell me more about the Internet backup service. This sound like the =
"cats meow". Are you paying additionally for this service or is this =
included with your internet provider?

Or, you can go one step further and increase your security =
1,000-fold. Backup daily to an internet backup service. No MS Explorer, =
no floppy disks, no tapes, no clicking all over the place. I don't =
bother at all with the PTBiz backup "feature". I simply have designated =
a couple-hundred megs of data (includes all PTBiz files) that I back up =
daily. Two clicks and it usually takes only 2 to 5 minutes for the =
backup to run. This way you are protected from computer malfunction, =
theft, fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, most acts of war, etc. Just make =
sure your backup service is in another state. I back up to somewhere in =
an underground bunker outside of Pittsburg - they claim it will survive =
a nuclear attack (former military facility)!

Tom,
I'll add to what Greg wrote about the backing up of PTBiz files. =
I too was a bit confused on procedure. Actually you can thank (smirk...) =
the author for not completing the necessary program keystrokes for =
making this a one keystroke procedure.
After it asks you whether you want to or not make a backup, if =
you say yes, it will prompt to another screen saying that the backup has =
been completed. However it really isn't.
From that point you have to go to Windows Explorer ( =
shortcut...press the Microsoft icon key on your keyboard along with the =
E key).
In Windows Explorer hit the C: icon, and the +next to it. Then =
scroll down to Program Files. Again hit the + icon next to Program =
Files, then scroll down to the PTBiz file. Click on PTBiz then on the =
right side of the screen you'll see the date in which you last backed =
up, along with a 7-8 digit number. That's your backup.
Now you have to copy that file ( top of page in Edit), then go =
to the File column (far left) and go to SEND TO. Press SEND TO and =
determine which drive you want to save the backup in. My A drive is the =
floppy drive, so I send it to a: drive. You'll then see it the =
information being transferred over to the disk drive. Done.
Again, make sure you take the time to THANK (@#?$) the author =
for this programming shortcoming. He wonders why more of his programs =
never sold. Well, it's for reasons like this that makes the program =
laborious to use.

Can someone tell me how to back up the "ptbiz" files? =20
I`ve had the program for a couple months now and am getting =
nervous about not having a backed up version of my files. I`ve tried =
signing up with the yahoo group but there is a glich going on with that =
and haven`t been able to get in ( I think that may have something to do =
with the fact I don`t elect to have their title bar istalled on my =
windows).=20
thanks in advance,
sincerely,
