Great website, Joe!
I can also post the more comprehensive list I sent a few months back, if anyone's interested. However, if anyone has questions about a specific medicine, I still advise them to find out all they can about it.
I was reading a Hyperacusis chat list a few days ago where someone said she thought maybe her hyperacusis started after she began taking a drug called cipro. So, when the professor was showing us the list, she asked for someone to ask for a drug by name and she would look it up for us. I called out cipro, and sure enough, there are a list of symptoms for cipro that affect the hearing. Cipro isn't on either list.
It's simply a matter that if someone is taking some kind of medicine that they have a question about, I would be happy to tell them what the list says. Of course, the only way to find out for sure is to ask one's physician; any lists are incomplete and cannot deal with the individual and his particular set of circumstances.

Diane, I think this is of interest to all piano techs. Is there any way this could be published on the PTG web's site? I for one would like to get this list whith maybe a resume of the nasty effects of the most dangerous drugs for our hearing. Thanks, Marcel Carey, RPT-----Original Message-----

List, et al......
Quite awhile ago I posted a list of ototoxic drugs that I found on the internet and several people wrote to me thanking me for the information.
Last week, while lecturing about how to take a case history, my audiology professor showed the class the reference material she uses in her office to look up possible problems with hearing and/or balance caused by ototoxic drugs.
I asked her for a copy and she said yes! It is the most up to date publication prepared for the audiology profession from the Physicians Desk Reference, listing all drugs that could have an effect on hearing and what their possible symptoms are. I cannot publish it here, but if anyone has a question about a specific drug, I could look up the listed symptoms and tell you. email me directly,
Diane
