David: I have repaired numerous pianos with separated pin blocks from the back frame. I have never lowered the tension....just add C Clamps....drill 5/16 holes throught back frame.....add Titebond Yellow Glue....Close clamps....tighten bolts....tune.....Go home and forget.....many still holding after 20 years.
