Hang in there with them. I use acetone and lacquer thinner on almost a daily 
basis refinishing pianos, furniture and freeing action parts. A little fumes 
of acetone and lacquer thinner will open the sinus and a little heat used 
wisely  has worked well for me. Will acetone free and clean action parts 
containing 'sugar' from coke, coffee, & etc?
