Thanks for your suggestions on fixing the squeak. A tiny bit of VJ Lube did the trick. Now here's a followup question: Under normal operation, the loudest part of the sustain pedal operation (in a vertical) is when the vertical wooden connecting rod passes through the felt-lined hole. You hear it swooshing. Has anybody thought to reduce that noise by lubricating, or by smoothing the dowel some? It's not an abnormal noise, but once you get sensitive to noises, whatever happens to be the loudest sound becomes something to think about. Charles
