Wet out the area with West System unthickened epoxy. Then fill the area with the same epoxy thickened with their high strength adhesive filler. After it hardens, drill out holes (where the hinge screws go) for hardwood plugs and epoxy the plugs in. Veneer over if needed. This repair should be stronger than when new.

Epoxy, CA, and duct tape. That's all you need!  ;-)
