Hazen,
Most "small grands" have a thin rim, so that sort of damage occurs more than
we would like. My repair for such damage is this. I bored vertically down
into the rim and inserted pinblock plug stock, to just slightly deeper than
the appropriate screws depth. Then, I glued a 1/4" laminate square to the
inside of the rim, (one for each hinge area). The laminate square had
beveled edges and was sealed and finished to match the case.
