Hammer Spring Rail Replacement

    Gordon:
To remove the square nuts easily from the stickers after the rubber
grommets have broken away, take a 1/4" drive socket extension, any length.
Chuck it into your drill, and voila! You now have a custom nut removal
tool. The square end fits the nut perfectly. You may have to drill up
into the female end of the extension to create clearance for the threads on
the rod, but its easily done. If the nuts are very tight, you may have to
hold the rod with a small vise grip to keep it from twisting. Also, if the
tool slips in your drill chuck, grind 3 flats on the male end, or if you
want to get fancy, weld a screwdriver bit to the end and put it in your
power screwdriver.
