Would you believe that some piano tuners actually give that kind of 
information. In St. Louis there was a guy who consistently told customers 
their pianos were worth at least twice as much as they were. He was a 
respected man, so most people took his word for it. There is also a rebuilder 
who tells customers their old pianos were worth much more than they really 
are, so that he could get them to spend more money on rebuilding their 
pianos. Customers would look at me with disbelief when I told them their 
piano was only worth $500, and not worth spending nay money on, after they 
were told it was worth $1000, and it would be worth $8000 if they would only 
spend $6000 to rebuild it.
