Well, yes, if the individual read and paid attention to some salient parts of the PTG Mission Statement: "The mission of the Piano Technicians Guild is to promote the highest possible standards of piano service ..." and Principles: "the Piano Technicians Guild and/or its members shall: ... "5. Always strive to provide the best possible piano service to the piano community. "6. Always aim to provide service in an ethical way, keeping the piano owner's needs and best interests uppermost." While there may be some of us who recite these to ourselves before going to sleep, or upon awakening, or use it as a liturgic mantra during meditation sessions, their numbers are probably fewer than the 4,000 member population of the Guild. There are many distractions, and gradations of resolve. As others mentioned there may have been extenuating circumstances in this particular case. Perhaps you could give him a call, and offer to mail him a spare capstan wrench, since you have had it suggested that his wrench must have broken during his service call at your aunt's home. Meanwhile, should we institute a group recitation of the PTG Mission Statement and Principles at PTG events? Patrick Draine
