Another consideration would be to purchase your hammers and shanks (remember, you likely want to replace shanks and flanges also!!!) from Wally Brooks. He will do expert hammer hanging if you wish. He is very helpful. He will also do the tapering and tailing if you wish. He will match up a set of new hammers to your old hammers. I did my first grand hammer replacement job with him and everything came out perfect. If you want to do everything yourself, then go wherever. But if not, Wally will do it for you and do a very, very exacting job.
