Elian, let me qualify my statement. The wood I'm reefering to is green or
not completely dried. House building. As the wood shrinks, so do the holes.
The holes are drilled in a piano after the wood has reached a stable RH.
What happens to the hole as moisture returns to the wood will be different.
Probably the individual cells expand from the outside in.
