Perhaps it is possible that there has been a bridge repair in the past on this piano? If so, no telling what might have been done to secure the bridge to the soundboard. Epoxy (who would ever use epoxy on a piano)? Screws or dowels in from the top and not through to the bottom of the panel/ribs?

Someone suggested a saw blade - sounds reasonable to me. First a wood saw and then if you hear/feel a metallic sensation, a hack-saw blade.
