I heard when I was at Yamaha that they use an electric carving knife to =
cut the foam quickly and neatly. For what it's worth.

  A lower-tech, but still quite clean way to do it is with a very long, =
sharp
  butcher knife.  Pull the foam slightly apart as you cut.  Long, =
vertical
  strokes.  Better than a boxing knife, in my experience, as the tip of =

  blade pricks the foam.
