It's not only the growth rate, it's the environment the trees grow in. Moss needs shade. Weyerhaeuser grows trees on clear-cut land. Too much sun. Too much heat. It's like trying to grow a Sitka spruce out in the open rather than the understory. Maybe it's time for genetic engineering.
