You say pre-model R. What can you or anyone else tell me about dating an "R"? A very dear lady has an old, old, old "R" that I service. It is one of the finest instruments I service. It was restrung by someone else a couple years ago and I did the action. It has a warm & dynamic tone I have not heard in other pianos. I have never been able to find a serial number on it. It is 5' 8" and looks much like an R. I see by your post I could look to see if it has 11 or 10 ribs. About what year did this change? Any other good clues to look for to date it?
