Yow-yow-yowing bass strings

I'm not sure, but I thought the effect we were
discussing here was a cyclical, intermittent
apparition of partials causing a
"waaaaaaaaaaah-waaaaaaaaaaaaah" (but of lower
frequency) not the inherent "growliness" of the bass.
     Anyone??????/
