While it is true that under normal circumstances there is not much that can be done for the basic underlying structure there are many thingees which may be done for improvement of performance and adjustment of piano/player preference stuff. Indeed on the thingees in question so much can 'usually' be done that what exits is an entirely different personality, with improved performance, expanded range.....in effect a 'new' piano thingee which only appears to be the same as we started with.....
