If it wasn't designed, and it wasn't copied (and if so, from what?), then someone somewhere went through the motions making what appear to be utterly arbitrary decisions. In spite of the overwhelming body of evidence everywhere I look, I still find it difficult to accept that so much is done with no obvious attempt at rational thought behind it.
