I have also seen two or three Story & Clark consoles from this era with
pinblock/back problems. The pinblock was not separating, rather the plate
and pinblock were pulling forward, separating away from the back.

Richard Snelson repaired one of these. He discovered in the teardown that
the plate lag screws, the ones aiming to find a grip in the back posts,
missed their mark -- gripping only thin air.
