Subject: Downbearing and Tone
How would you best describe the tonal characteristics of a piano that =
has too much versus too little down bearing?

As I understand it, theoretically with too much bearing it would be =
loud but not sustain very well, and with too little, it would sustain =
long (providing the soundboard is good) but not have much volume. But =
so many other factors enter in that downbearing can't be pointed to as =
the sole reason for a certain tone quality. =20
