Hello Ed Foote When I had just started out tuning & repairing I was asked to replace a set of castors on a village hall upright piano. The old ones were marking the new floor. I made the necessary measurements and got the new castors. Being alone and considering the difficulty I was faced with I laid the piano down on its keyboard - back upwards. Removed the old castors and replaced them with the new super-efficient smooth-running rubber-tyred (oops! tired) heavy duty castors and prepared for the big single-handed heave-ho! to the upright position. BUT! I hadn't given thought to the smooth-running efficiency and as soon as I took the strain to right the piano it started to roll away from me. I couldn't let it drop because it would either damage the floor, the piano or me...! Soon I found myself running with this heavy burden only to be brought to a sudden halt by the stage-front at the other end of the hall. A natural chock! Why hadn't I thought of that?
