---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hello Phil, The Steinway you speak of is a " round tail A " slang !! with 85 notes. It has a "hook" bridge that carries two two string and seven three string unisons all wrapped. Many believe that this was the piano that "made" Steinway. Its, production began in 1878. The first of the 88 note models were built in 1892. The "Square" tail A,s without the hook bridge began production in 1896/97. This A was discontinued in 1913. In 1913 the 6'4" A was put into production then discontinued in 1947. As a side note many, including me, think this was a mistake a bad mistake. The 6'4" A is now being built in Germany.
