Subject: RE: Help with Steinway Model..

I seem to be getting differing strong opinions as to what model this gem
might be..and I appreciate those opinions, publicly and privately.

If I have a chance to go back tomorrow and see this piano again, is
there any way to better define what model this piano is? Is there a
place to look..underneath..on the plate..in the action cavity..that
might help the 'better informed' reading this thread to help me
determine what model this piano really is?

Thank you for the help,

            Phil,

I think this is the A1 model---An opinion expressed my most
of the responders, but I'll suggest calling S+Sons in NY and ask the
receptionist for the Dept. where you can find the history of a
particular Steinway from serial #. They will connect you to Margaret and
she will tell you the day that the piano was completed, the model,
original finish and the purchaser----sometimes the dealer but often the
individual. I'm waiting for a famous name but no luck as yet. This is
really a nice service and will remove any doubt as to this model
designation.
