Hello Joe and All,

 

  I have a round- tail 'A' Steinway 88 note

# 87748.  The action shifts right.

   Pierce shows that this number was

built in  1896-98

   

The numbers cast in plate at left rear

are 29/8.96. with more information we

may be able to pin down the left shift

right shift time-line closer.

            The 85 note rosewood  A with the left shift is #48612 .
Margaret @ Steinway N.Y. gave me a completion date of March 19 1883
