Well, thank you list for the responses, and for making me feel like an idiot.  I guess if you all don't agree, then I will change my thinking.  I'd rather agree with you, than to get slammed by reputable technicians in the field.  I still look up to you guys.

Yeah, right! and with that kind of approach, let's just leave those compression crowned slabs, ie concave boards, where they are. Because, if you replace it with an efficient system, "it's no longer a Steinway". Pure BS IMO! Get real. The main function is to improve, if possible and have a pianist that loves their instrument, instead of hating it!!!!!!!
