new Bechsteins

Dale,

Working the front short segment (with force) of the strings in front of the
agrafes, (with a hook to minimize the energy passing the agrafe) will
reinforce the lower energy and focus the tone, while high brilliance may
remain, you'll have more material to deal with.

I don't know much about the modern Bechstein, but these pianos are known as
extra high iH pianos, that bring a lively tone at piano level. If really too
brilliant even after all the strings manipulations (at the bridges as well)
indeed I would voice them softer, but preserve the fundamental power to the
max, indeed a too soft Bechstein feel very heavy and does not sing much.

 List
 Does any one out there have any working knowledge as to Why Bechsteins are
voiced so brilliantly. I always though that the European tone preference was
darker & cleaner. Andre, Ric Isaac, Got an opinion?
