Pinning on new flanges

Isn't the best reason for plastic the fact you can mill it precisely and 
especially drill it without the drill bit wandering?   I still haven't had 
any real problems with plastic except glue impregnated bushing cloth which 
isn't the plastics fault unless wood absorbed some of the glue?
