Also, talk to Schaff about not-in-the-catalog possibilities. At the very least, I'm sure they've been asked many times = and would know possible sources, if they exist. =20 I did some major bridge and action work on one of these puppies, once. Regulating, etc., is not so bad. The knuckles work okay if they are in = good shape. Biggest problem I had was regulating rep springs, they were all = over the place and many were just too weak--especially after I put in the = sledge hammers (see below). =20 This much I know from my own experience: If you replace hammers, choose = some that are not too heavy! I went with a manufacturer's recommendation and, combined with dimply buckskins, etc., I ended up with a piano that drove like an 18-wheeler with 6 flat tires and a worn out transmission. Ha.=20 =20 Fortunately, the owners LIKED the heavy action. Go figure! (Trust me, = they don't play a lot of Chopin or Debussy!) Barnard Salem, MO =20 -----Original Message----- From: Dave Davis [mailto:davistunes@yahoo.com]=20 Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 10:07 PM To: pianotech@ptg.org Subject: Brambach action parts Hi all, =20 Today, I had the pleasure of servicing and repairing a 1918-ish Brambach baby grand. There were several broken flanges, broken jacks, and rotting repetition spring loops that I was able to patch together in a = respectable manner. Is there a source for the "special" Brambach parts, such as hammershanks/knuckles, jacks, etc.? The customer is interested in = keeping the piano in somewhat good repair, and I would like to have some = replacement parts in stock. =20 Thanks, =20 Dave Davis Renton, WA --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
