The strings can all be the = same length - it doesn't really matter - because the non-speaking part = of the string is damped with a strip of listing cloth. The Clavichord is = the only keyed instrument on which the pitch can be altered by the = player by means of greater or lesser pressure applied to the key. In the = Clavichord there is no action. The "Tangent" is fixed to the tail end of = the key.
