A "Rubber Band Sound"

Hi, I heard that rubber band yesterday. Turned out to be a layer of mud
between the plate and sound board that had dried and srunk away from the
board causing no problem until the piano was handed down to the son. There
also was mud and rust on the strings and bridge at that point.
It is a wonder that the piano has not fallen apart and the bass strings are
still live.
When moved a loose screw also became lodged at the bridge between A4 and A#4
causing a rather interesting sound.
There is still a small buzz at F5 A5 probibly due to loose ribs. To fix
would require moving the old girl out from the wall and being that she
weighs over 800 pounds and is over 90 years old, well the repair is
postponed for a later date and perhaps a stronger tech. <G> Her last name is
Fisher and she stands 59" tall
