I only wished to specify what my idea of "new action" is. Some so-called
new actions I've seen had only new butts and new damper felts. It never
occurs to some techs to replace abstract felt or jack springs or even hammer
return springs. Replacing damper levers is almost unheard of. I started
out replacing the damper flanges only years ago but found it more
satisfactory to replace the whole lever. Some "new actions" didn't get all
the flanges replaced. I think it is a must.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to replace stickers and most of the wippens
in actions we restore. If I could find someone to make brand new stickers
at the correct lengths or wippens that matched the player wippens found in
players, I would replace the complete action. At this time those two items
must be kept. Tongues also come in more than one length so often I must
keep those as well. Only one length is available from piano supply co's.

Hello List & D L Bullock
I'd like to know how he would: "The actions are mostly replaced and every
spring and piece of felt or leather is replaced as well." replace the
actions without replacing the springs, felt, leather.... Just a thought....
:-)
